Kumaran Book House opened in 1985 with a single shelf of Tamil literary titles and a promise to keep them in print. Four decades later, our shelves hold over ten thousand titles in Tamil and English — own editions and partner publishers — and our Triplicane print floor produces short-run books for schools, presses, and self-published authors.

We are not a marketplace. We are a shop. Every title you see on this site is one we have read, stocked, and can answer questions about. When you call, the phone is answered by someone who knows the back-catalogue.

Online ordering is a convenience we added in 2024; the shop, the print floor, and the family behind them are unchanged.
